For interest sake I was wondering what the difference in fuel costs and your vehicle efficiency are around the world.

I am from South Africa ( We use the metric system and our currency is the South African Rand), Thus we work our price in Rands per liter, but I converted it to $ per gallon so we can do some comparison.

In South Africa we pay $4.62 per gallon.

As far as fuel efficiency goes: with my 3.o turbo diesel i get 400 miles on a 17 gallon tank.
Thus 23.5 miles per gallon.

Northeast Wisconsin, averages about $2.50 a gallon right now. My Silverado gets 12-13 mpg, our Outback around 23-25.

In the U.K. fuel currently £1.23 per litre on average. Which is $1.71 a litre.
I believe US gallons are slightly smaller than what we would use in the U.K. A US gallon is 3.79 litres and in the U.K. 4.54.

So that gives either $6.48 or $7.76 a gallon.

My 4L Diesel does about 21 MPG on average.

I’m at about $6.60 a gallon for premium diesel in Germany. My 3.0 liter turbo charged 4-banger runs average 22 MPG.
