Great little 2 part write up. I wish they had a bit more route detail. At first I was thinking coming into Elkford from the south, from Sparwood, but that is a full on highway.
I'm thinking they might have come in from the East Kootenays valley...... In which case I'd love more detail on where they left Hwy 93, maybe south of Canal Flats and past White Swan Lake and Lussier Hot Sptings. Definitely a bucket list trip for me next summer if that route exists.

North to the Mountains - Part 2 of 2 - Overland Bound
When we left them in Part 1, the Van Stralen family was feeling good after traversing what was left of an avalanche in the British Columbia backcountry. Now things start to get really good/bad. Lots of winching, tons of recovery gear, ample good spirits.
