For the last 5 years 3 ham radio friends and I have gotten together on this same weekend to go camping and play with our ham radios. There are multiple large QSO parties going on so contacts are easy pickings. We also activated the park we were in for POTA. I was able to make 35 park to park contacts.
As my buddy Don said, good friends, good food, and good radio.

A train bridge built in 1902 that was at some point converted in to a 800' single lane bridge.

I worked a few 7th and NE QSO party participants but with 4 of us trying to operate I was searching out the other POTA activations for P2Ps while allowing the others to make contacts too.

My favorite DX was working a Japan station on 40m with 10 watts last month.

5:00 AM pacific time... so just as the DX was fading.
That’s cool. Back in the mean old days, when a lot of international broadcasts were in the 40m band, I enjoyed listening to VOA, Radio Moscow, BBC, and lots of others at night.
