Thorstein,

How many days was it, how many km?
What would be the best time to drive? Summer?
Would you guide some people around? If I get some people interested, would you guide?

Greetings from Robert

@Joey83 let me know when you fancy a trip to the UK. Would be nice to meet other members and take in some of the beauty that the UK has to offer. Yorkshire and Northumberland are great destinations and I guess you would come into Hull via ferry (assuming you bring your rig). If you fancy a longer journey wales is great for off road trails. Or you could try the North Coast 500 around Scotland which whilst has no off road routes, is very beautiful. Many options.

If you fancy a very short trip (probably best done via plane) we are doing a weekend trip into the peak district national park on the 13-15 January. About 30-40 land rovers camping in the winter and taking in some of the local areas best trails. I could pick you up from manchester and put you up in my oztent or you could stay in the bed and breakfast that is on the site that we are camping on. A good group who like 4x4s, like to socialise (aka have a drink and a laugh) and like camping.

We used 5 days, 4 nights. The route could be done much faster but we didnt stress and we used some time too dry the tents when the sun came up, so 4 days and 3 nights is a reasonable time schedule. I think we drove about 1200-1500km, I dont remember exactly. There are also more roads that we could drive on this trip but then we would use a couple of more days.
Due to the big amount of snow in the mountains some of the roads doesnt open until late june. So from late june until midle of october is a good time. This trip has no offroad trails since there are pretty strictly rules regarding offroading in Norway.
I guess I could do that! Currently planing a trip for next summer, but if we could agree on a date that could be possible :)

Thorstein,

What are the rules about offroading? I do see gravel roads. For what I have in mind is gravel roads, with less good surface already great.
If we would come, it has to be for at least a week, due the travel from and to Norway.
So, what is the start of the trip, and were does it end?
Is it allowed to drive forest roads and such?

The rules are literaly no offroading exept if its an event wich has gotten license to do it. There is alot of gravel roads and that is what we seek too find, and we have found alot of nice roads, including some forest roads, mainly gravel that too. But we could also combine it with a more "offroad" route through Sweden, where its slightly easier to find roads that are more in too the bush than the gravel roads in Norway. And these roads are close to the Norwegian boarder and not that far from the locations in the movie, so it wont make the trip that much longer. So where we start and end I guess is more up to you :) We are a groupe of overlanders located in south east Norway and 2 of theese guys are from Sweden and started www.overlanding.nu wich has a forum and site for us scandinavians, these guys could maybe arrange a route and trails for the swedish part since this is where they have been exploring for many years. I will talk with them and see if we could figure something out :)

Thorstein,

If we drive up to Halden, nearby Oslo, which could be the start and end of our trip, we have a about 1250 km drive up there.
To do this in a really easy pace, it would take us two days. So that means, two days up and two days down.
If we start on the Friday and be back on the second Sunday, we will have 6 days to drive lanes.

How is camping there? Wild camping? Are there any campsites?
How much cars would you accept? Like, here in Holland I accept for a standard tour just up to 6 cars plus mine, and I prefer to have just 4 cars plus myself.
If I have 6 cars and one of them is a single driver I split it into two groups.

Anyway, we can make this a Overland Bound event. And maybe Michael and Corrie would like to come along.
Just thinking.

I have a good feeling about this.

If you and C need any help getting over here @Michael, let us know and we'll do what we can.
Let us know the dates when you've had a chance to save up and think about it and we might be able to meet you guys at the airport.
