I'm saving up and wanting to do the Trans-America Trail in a 4x4 going east to west. On the way back I plan on hitting several northern trails such as Lewis and Clark, and the Wisconsin Trail. I'm planning on a 2 month trip there and back so I can stop and smell the roses, and see points of interest.
What I'd like to know is land use laws for out of state drivers. for example, does California require a OHV permit for an out of state. What about other states? Does it run like fishing licenses where if your out of state they charge 3 to 5 times more?
