We just got home from our first major adventure with our new Jeep. We flew from Portland OR to Dallas TX and purchased this "bone stock" Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. It looks like it's never seen dirt before we purchased it. We then drove it back home nearly 2100 miles with a stop in Moab for a little fun. We didn't do anything serious offroad in Moab since we were breaking a few "rules" just being there. We had no recovery gear (can't take it on the plane easily), no compressor to air up the tires after playing, and we were alone. Thankfully we were in site of the highway the whole time and many other people were around so no real risk.

Next for the build. We want to our build to be "capable but dependable". With that in mind, this will be built on the mild side.

We plan on about a 3" lift and 33" BFG KO2s. I haven't decided if we're going to use the stock wheels with small spacers for clearance or if we're going to change out for better offset wheels.
We will be installing a JCR Offroad bumper front and rear. I already own a Warn M8000 so that will go up front.

My wife and I hike long distances so a ground tent is no issue for us. We don't want a RTT due to the weight and wind resistance issues.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Aaron
