Anyone done this? I'm looking to mount a 4' ARB awning to my factory rack. I'm looking to do this for cost savings and not purchasing a prinsu, etc. I don't want to add a basket due to fuel usage (A lot of highway miles).

You can fab up some steel bar stock to fit the rack and the awning to. If you're not comfortable with DIY, you can get a local welding shop to do a couple brackets for you. They would just need your Taco and the awning to get the measurements from. What year Tacoma? I don't see it in your write-up. And I'm not very familiar with the Tacoma rack. Can it accept crossbars like the 4Runner one can?

Are the side rails slotted so the crossbars can be moved forward and back? If so a metal shop should be able to set you up. If not, look for a Thule or similar solution that uses your factory crossbars. They're out there. Something like this that you can mount to either the slots vertically, or to the crossbars with u-bolts.
