April Meeting Dates Set – Learn and Contribute to Alternatives

Mark your calendars for April 21 (Bozeman) and April 28 (Billings) to come together, roll up your sleeves and contribute to the Custer Gallatin National Forest -Forest Plan Revision alternatives for preparing the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The Forest received just over 10,500 comments on the proposed action. These comments help to create the alternatives.

Some themes that have emerged to date include many variations of land allocations such as recommended wilderness boundaries to backcountry areas, recreational emphasis areas and uses allowed in these areas; levels of objectives such as weed control and fuels treatment; recreational airfields and other recreation uses; natural resources such as wildlife, water and vegetation; and many detailed specific plan component comments on all topics.

In April, the next step is to look at a range of alternatives that will be analyzed for the upcoming Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). The Plan Revision Team is looking to work on and ensure a spectrum of alternatives is provided for and analyzed.
