A friend is planning to head to Mojave this weekend 3/16. He has never been. We’re getting together Friday so I can help him plan.

I’m wondering about current conditions, especially the water level at the crossing and the passability of Soda Lake.

Thanks for any current information you can provide.

I took this picture last week the water crossing a little lower than last year this time and the lake is firm as per a member I talked with as they left Afton Canyon.89330

You can take Basin Road just before the train trestle or even go a little further and check out Afton Canyon then turn around and go back to Basin road.

I have always wanted to drive the Mojave Rd but I am not comfortable fording water this deep as I do not have a snorkel.

I would never encourage anyone to undertake any kind of recreation they feel is unsafe. I would tell you that I have crossed that spot in my unmodifed Tacoma when I believe the water was deeper and I did not have any trouble.
