Good morning everyone
I'm a new member, my name is Amory from Salem OR
I've been getting interested in overlanding, and exploring the OBDR. Last year I bought this 2002 Tahoe, which I am planning to work on this summer getting prepared for overlanding.
I'm no where near where I need to be, but I thought I'd join this community for tips, tricks, shared advice, and to find like minded people in my area. My plans would include my wife and son, and possibly a dual sport bike along with the Chevy Tahoe.
I know full size non-toyotas are not the normal fare, but I assume with the right tires, winch, lighting, etc. and gear the Tahoe will do what I need it to.
Welcome to OLB!

New Members,

Welcome to the Overland Bound community! Please take a few moments to introduce yourself so we can get to know you!

A few things you might want to include in your introduction are:

1) Picture! If you have a rig, we want to see it!
2) Location (General area is fine)
3) Rig (Year, Make, Model, etc.)
4) Overlanding Experience Background (Novice or Experienced, you're welcome here!)

We're glad you've found us and look forward to sharing our adventures with you!

In addition to getting to know you, here are the guideline sent to all Moderators of the forums. It's a natural reflection of our community, and what Overland Bound is all about:

From @administrator
  • Overlanding is: "Vehicle Dependent Travel". Nothing else.
  • We will not further define "overlanding".
  • "Capable" depends on the requirements of the trip, and we take that very seriously.
  • You are an Overlander: Overlanding is for everyone who has exploration and adventure in their heart, or, who need to be reinvigorated by connecting with nature. Nature is unforgiving. You must rise to a certain level of personal awareness to survive. Sound right? Overlanding is for you.
  • Encourage uncomplicated ventures into the great outdoors. Don't over pack.
  • Be prepared, and understand basic requirements. Question folks, to be sure they are aware of what is required. Don't assume.
  • Share without reservation, trip locations, and information.
  • It doesn't matter what you drive: The only requirement of an Overlander is that the vehicle serves the job required, safely.
  • We do not care about make or model.
  • We do not engage in "this is better than that" competitions.
  • We DO give advice about how to make your vehicle ready for what you need. Share knowledge.
  • Humility.
  • We respect, fear, and protect nature.
  • "I don't know" is a great answer.
  • We don’t brag about exploits.
  • We seek answers from the community when we don’t know.
  • We engage in the very smallest of interactions.
Hello everyone! New member from South Carolina USA. I’m in the process of building a 2006 Toyota Tacoma double cab long bed TRD SPORT. I hope to be finished with it in April.

Hello everyone,

I finally become a member of overland bound I have been thinking about joining for about a year or two now. I am Andrew from just north of atlanta, ga. I currently drive a '03 F250 diesel with a BDS lift, mickey thompson ATZ p3, ARE camper shell, full custom pull out drawer system with sleeping platform, stand alone 12V power, ARB twin air compressor. I mostly go on small 3-4 day trips throughout the Southeast and have been doing this for years and years without knowing it was called overlanding.

Hello everyone,

This is Bryan from eastern Utah, driving offroad is normally a given in this area. I mainly did rougher trails and rocks with my prior vehicle (2000 Jeep XJ, 6 inches of lift, 35" tires, etc.). I got tires of doing this now and I am getting into longer overland trips. I am now outfitting the newer vehicle now (2014 Jeep JKUR, stock suspension, roof rack with RTT, interior mods galore). Still planning other mods to do.

Hello all,

Rich here, I am located in the flat lands of NW Suburbs of Chicago. I have extensive background in motorsports and have worked in the tuning industry for a number of years runing marketing programs ( any one hear of AMS Performance?). I've done plenty of road course days however I am a total newb to overlanding and offroading. I've been doing plenty of research for the past few months and I am looking to get my feet wet with the some overlanding adventures. I am currenlty shopping for an off-road vehicle; on the fence between a used Diesel ZR2 or a JKU Rubicon, but leaning towards the ZR2 as the rig will have to double as a daily.

Just wanted to say hello, I am looking forward to chatting with some of you as I embark on my next automotive adventure.

Hey there, new here.
Location: Denver, CO
RIG: 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road
Experience: New to Overlanding but pumped to get started.

I'm in process of finalizing the build list for my Taco. Starting with a KB Voodoo rack and some other fun attachments.
Really looking forward to getting out and exploring CO with my kids this year. Any recommendations for easy trails I should hit up as a newbie?

Welcome to Overland Bound, Amory (@AVneanderthal)! The Salem area is really starting to pick up with the members thanks to @Roy & Kristin Zirpoli's efforts. You can find out more about what is going on in the area by visiting the Willamette Valley- Overland Bound Facebook group [link]. There are a number of runs organized through that area and through the NorthWest Region forum right here on Overland Bound [link]. One such event is a meetup on February 9th [link].

I highly recommend keeping an eye on the Rally Point system [link] for more events that might interest you.

I look forward to seeing you out there sometime! If you need anything, feel free to hit me up on the forums: @Jedi.

Hey RJ here, new member, looking forward to some adventures!
Hey RJ (@Rjsnodgrass)! Welcome to Overland Bound. Seattle is a great place to live if you are looking for adventure and to meet your fellow Overland Bound members. In fact we just had a great meetup last weekend and I am working hard to plan one for February. To get to know the members in your area, I recommend heading on over to the NorthWest Region forum [link].

Depending on where in Seattle you live, you might be interested in hooking up with the South Puget Sound group [link] as they start getting some recurring meetups going.

Of course, events are also posted on the Rally Point system [link], so you might want to check that out as well.

I look forward to seeing you out there! If you need anything, feel free to hit me up on the forums: @Jedi.

Hello OLB members, this is Paul. I have been following the OLB you tube channel for a while. I consider myself a novice overlander and looking forward to some trips. My rig is a 2017 Toyota Tundra, which is in the process of being modded for future trips. I am based in the Northern California (East Bay) area.
