Kaiser Pass Run

Bald Mountain (37.1038354,-119.2056764)

For my first Overland Bound adventure it was awesome. Coming together with a big group of like minded outdoor enthusiasts was awesome. We had a late start on Friday but once we got on the road, Overland Bound members formed a convoy of 10 rigs headed towards the Sierra’s.

Arriving at Badger Flat Camp ground Friday with temperatures 85+ degrees we ready for spectacular weekend. Despite getting attacked by mosquitoes all went well for the first night. There are plenty of bear lockers, a running creek (depending on time of year) for those that want to filter water.

Saturday we were up bright early and on time! We were now 13 rigs strong eagerly waiting to air down these tires and start traversing over rocky terrain. With scrapes and scratches to skid plates we all made it to the top and back down Bald Mountain with no major damage. The view from the top of Bald Mountain is truly amazing. Many of the mountain peaks off in the distance still had snow on them.

From here we headed to Kaiser Pass Rd, where the group split up as folks went to hot springs, swam in the lake and others headed to Jackass Meadows to setup camp. Driving Kaiser Pass and overlooking the valley was incredible. Not too many signs of wildlife besides chipmunks running back and forth across the road.

Sunday came and the vast majority of the group started back down to civilization where again we split and when our separate ways and did our final activities in Shaver Lake!
