I ran the JKU through the car wash yesterday and realized just how bad my door hinges were getting pelted by gravel on the back roads. Mudflaps are out of the question. What other options are there for protecting the hinges. I've thought about Plasti Dipping them, but wasn't sure if that would affect the functionality of the hinge. Any thoughts?

I've ran into the same issue with my TJ. Options are as follows:
  1. Drive slower.
  2. Don't drive on gravel roads.
  3. Add mud flaps.
  4. Add rock rails that provide a bit more of a "curtain".
  5. Constantly be touching up the paint.
That's about it. Unfortunately, none of the above are preferable. I do highly recommend that you periodically touch them up with paint otherwise your beautiful blue Jeep will turn into a rust bucket.

Hopefully someone on here has a wonderful idea that I haven't come up with yet.

Frustrating right? The worst dings happen when I get off the gravel and up to speed on the hard top when the rocks stuck in my tire tread sling out at 60 mph. The first time it happened, my son and I looked at each other and thought we had been shot at, LOL.
