icom 2730A Help! UPDATE: Problem Solved

Hams, i need a bit of technical support. I have an icom 2730A mobile that has had MARS conversion. I'm a member of the local volunteer Rescue Squad and work professionally for an ambulance service so I'm permitted and expected to be able to have transmit capabilities on the public service frequencies for my county. My departments primary repeater uses a DTCS code in and a standard PL tone out. Does anyone who owns or has experience with this radio have any idea how to program this from the front panel or if its even possible? I've studied the manual and if its in there, i cant find it. Surprisingly enough even my baofeng GT-3 is capable of such operation and of course my Motorola XTS5000 has no issues with it but i cant figure out how to get my icom to do it. Thanks in advance.

What you're after with the tones can be done on the 2730. Programming from the menus IS possible, but its arcane at best. I ended up getting the RT systems sfotware and cable. A benefit I discovered is the cable will work with my Icom 2200 as well as my Alinco DJ500. For those radios I can use the CHIRP sfotware that you can download free.

Figured it out this morning. i foolishly didn't scroll through the tone menu far enough. the DCT/TSQL option is what I was looking for. Thanks for the reply!

glad you found it, for the last decade if not a tad more all Icoms are programmed the same way thankfully

I adore icoms, almost all my radios are icoms

I have a couple ham friends with that model, do not cross mode in high power it burns up the finals
