I just found out I never have to drive on pavement to get to the wilderness.

So a few years ago we moved from the busy West side of Washington to the East side of the mountains. I work from home and as I look out my office window I can see Mt. Cleman, about 5000ft. Behind it is Mt. Rainier, the Okanogan, and Wenachee NF's and the William O Douglas Wilderness.
However, I have been leaving my house, on a gravel road, and then driving to Hwy 12 and then back onto FS roads.
Well, I just figured out with the help of Gaia that I no longer need to do this. One of the roads in my development, Conrad Ranches leads into the wilderness. I can literally air down in my driveway and drive to the top of Mt. Cleman and then off into one of several National Forests or wildlife areas.
The Blue line on the map below is the route from my house that connects up to the other colored tracks from prior trips. From there I can go anywhere.
I am stoked to try that route. I will be able to see my house from the top.
I feel really blessed to be able to be this close to so much great wilderness. Only trouble is, most of the time I just have to look out the window at it. Not enough weekends.

I should point out that this is not a map to my house exactly, just the area near my house. You would not be able to find my house based on this map. My neighborhood is a division of land where everyone has at least 10 acres, I have 15.

Check out Ahtanum state park west of Yakima. Lots of awsome dispersed camping up there and miles and miles of trails. We used to spend alot of time up there.

Right now I am using my Suburban as a scout rig. My wife is not as excited about sleeping in the truck as I am, she prefers to use our 30 Travel Trailer. However I hate campgounds, I hate the crowds, the cost, and the loud noises. Most campgrounds are 10 more populated than where my house is. I go to get away, not to be with crowds.
So, I am using the Sub to scout around and find nice areas to bring the trailer. Dragging a 30 ft trailer into an unknown area is stupid, but if I can scout it out first and add waypoints to the GPS then I can go back later with the trailer.
So this is exciting to me to be able to not even have to get out on the main road, I can drag my camper up into the woods right from my own neighborhood.
