I signed up for the online crash course, however I will more than likely have to take the test at a later date. I will be headed to michigan for several weeks at the end of the month.
The test dates aren’t set yet, I will set those up If/when I get enough intrest

For those of you that signed up for the Ham class, how is the studying going?

what areas are you struggling with in the information so far (day 3)

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around frequencies.

also just a reminder I am going to my Local Ham Club monthly meeting. Is there anything you guys would like me to bring up in topic of conversations with the members there?

It's going well for me. I have been spending at least a couple hours a day on the material.
If I get a flash card wrong, I write down the correct answer. Just a way I help commit things to memory. I have been going through the card with the goal of keeping my aptitude above 80%.
I have taken a 4 practice tests so far and passed all but the first on day 1.

The Ham Meeting was cancelled due to weather, I’ll be posting back here next month with notes I take away from the meeting.

how many are wanting to set up a Ham Exam before February 9th, 2020?

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around frequencies.
What issue are you having with frequency?

Frequency to wavelength (and vise versa) is the most common confusion I see, my wife had problems with it too.
300/frequency = wavelength
300/wavelength = frequency (approximately)

Example:
300/146MHz = 2.05 or 2 meters (144-148)
300/20m = 15Mhz (really 20m is 14MHz-14.350MHz)

It's not exact but the test question would have 3 very different answers so in the case of the 300/20M example above you would get 15MHz but you would select 14-14.035MHz on the test as it is the closest.

Thanks, this helps a lot... I struggle with basic math, so a calculator is my go to tool for simple mathematics. On the other hand, setting up and solving complex algebraic equations are simple for me until it comes back to the basic math, then the calc comes out again. So your simple equation really does help me understand it better.

another place I see confusion is parallel vs series circuits. It seams I have them swapped in my head, or maybe it’s the way the questions are worded, but I get every single one of them wrong.

CORRECTION -
300 × Wavelength = Freq.

GRRA is having their monthly business meeting on January 28, 2020 @ 6:00 pm at La Grande City Fire Department. I will be taking my ham test after the meeting. If any one else is wanting to test, contact me before January 25th, so I can coordinate more testers.

I have started to prep for the General as well. Been prepping for a few days and my aptitude is at about 60%. I will continue to cram tonight an tomorrow morning. I am comfortable with where I am on the Tech, but the General will come down to some lucky guesses.
So, if you have the days, start looking at the General study info.

I am right there with you... I’m getting between 26 and 28 on general.
