Early days here, just wanted to get something down, the best time to leave (before or after traffic) is up for debate.
Roll up the 5 and the 99 to Shaver Lake. The second stop should be a good place to capture all those coming from Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire. The trick is to clear downtown at a decent hour, or wait till it clears out a little.
