Im trying to install a roof rack on my ARE camper shell.

It came with Yakima landing pads so Im getting Yakima towers and bars. They come in 50, 60 and 70.

My trucks width is 79"

I cant find anything definitive on whether to go 60 or 70. Any advice? Yakima support wasnt clear on which length I need.

My only plans for the roof rack now are a basket for extra gear and an awning.

Thanks!

I would think if your truck is 79" wide then go with the 70" bar to maximize your usable space. I used Rhino Rack legs and clamp kits with Supertrut bars to custom make my roof rack to mount my solar panel to.

I ordered the 60s. I measured the width of my camper shell and with 70s the bars would be sticking out roughly 11 inches on each side. That just seemed like too big of a gap considering I am mounting an awning to the side of the crossbars.

If I need to exchange the bars I can do that though because REI is really good about returns
