Backroad Still lifes

One of my favorite things to photograph when I travel are those found objects, worn walls, creaking doors and forgotten memories that draw my eye. As a professional in the film era I would wander around in the early morning hours with a few rolls of Kodachrome and my trusty Canon F1n. Now with digital I can go crazy and not pass up a shot. Half the fun is captioning the images... try it. These are from last week's 7-day, 1500 mile road trip through Oregon, California, Nevada, and Idaho...


I'm pretty sure the monkey did it...



Ethyl retired in '93 and moved to the desert for her health...



I'd sit and rest awhile, but I have places to go and stuff to see...



Whatever is in there must be important.


Location, location, location...


Road? I don't need no stinking road...

Thanks. Photography should be about telling a story without words. In this world of Instagram I love adding some Tongue-in-cheek captions, but the images could stand alone and allow the viewer to write their own story. Here's a few photos from the weekend...

Just back from a fly fishing trip to the southern Yucatán and a small village called Punta Allen.... no, I didn't drive. I did walk the dirt road into the village and captured these images...

Short days and long nights allow me to add to this collection of backroad photos, although Newport Oregon is far from being a backroad town. Still, early morning photo adventures are productive and worth sharing.
