So in an effort not to piss off Smokey the Bear and burn down the forest. I would like to know what flares you use or not recommended to use when hitting the trail or just daily driving?

Pretty sure if you were caught out here in California with flares while in the wilderness you would be subject to some pretty serious scrutiny. Better off having a big roll of day-glo orange or green engineer tape.

Hmmm never heard of day-glo tape I'll check it out. You know what's pretty interesting about this site you find out about some really cool gear and accessories. Thanks for the the tip Sir.
