Air filter box removal/replacement questions

So I would like some advice and/or suggestions on how to remove this air filter box on my 06' explorer. I would like to remove it up to where the hose is clamped down to the hose clamp and install something much smaller that would fit right up on it or could easily be positioned elsewhere in the hood. I also need to keep my ARB pump where it is because I will actually be upgrading and going a size up soon. The purpose of this is to make room for an auxiliary battery in a dual battery system. I would really like to avoid installing a battery in the cab for ventilation reasons. I also included a side picture because I may want to install a snorkel and thought I may want to tackle that project at the same time if I'm going to be messing with it anyways. If anyone has any ideas or has done something similar I'd appreciate the help! Also any advice on the dual battery system in general is welcome as well! Thank you.
