2011 Xterra low lift w35s build and adventures

Had to take a bit of a drive today to deliver some product for work , took a bit more of a scenic route back to make the most of the trip . Happy with how the xterra drives at 75 and finally got to see what it does just freeway driving . Happy still with the choice of light 35s .

Been super busy with work the last couple weeks ( dang Valentine’s Day ) so not much has been happening but I did manage to put a small spacer in the front and a add a leaf in the rear , took out the overload because it hits the bump stop before the overload anyways . Ride is still rather crap , ordering some struts today and hopefully that will help . Of corse the add a leafs where wrong but they just needed to be shortened up a little to fit . Think I’m at about 2” of lift now .

Between picking out a new rig for the fiancé , getting some sort of flu and just General life stuff I feel like it’s been months sense I’ve been out exploring . But I did get the fog lights remounted and the bumper painted so there’s one more thing to check of the before it goes up for sale to do list .

Not a whole lot of time for adventure today but did the normal kinda thing for us , stop and get breakfast burritos and head up into the snow . The sun was shining making for some nice views 
Had a little hiccup when my tire dropped into a bit of a hole and with the bottom layer of snow being that half melted and refrozen snowy ice crap it instantly beached two of the tires leaving them hanging , but the beauty of snow is your typically never really that stuck so after a little shoveling and use of the traction boards I was able to move back and forth enough to get momentum and backup out of the hole I made . Decided it was best to just turn around and head back the way we came . Was nice to get out but kinda felt like one of those days that staying home and getting stuff done would have felt more productive

Looks like a fun trip! Glad you got yourself mobile again. That could have been a cold walk out for help.

The nice thing about snow is for the most part your never really that stuck , 90% of the time there’s a gravel road under you so if you dig long enough you’ll get to traction . It does suck when it’s frozen over crappy snow , takes some time to dig through .

Dad and I had Cherokees at the same time and took Mom and my wife out riding in the mountains on a snowy day like that. Wound up being 3-4" of snow on 2" of solid ice. That was a touch and go trip. I wound up sliding backward about 70yrd on a hill when I completely lost traction near the top. I just pegged the clutch to keep the tires rolling and let it free wheel back to the bottom so I didn't wind up sideways or upsidedown. The second attempt I kept the tires in deeper snow with a little more gusto on the approach. It was digging and clawing right at the top but we made it on that attempt.
I HATE driving on ice. That's a full abort NO for me when I realize that's what's happening.

Got the drivers side fender liner cage done , my welder doesn’t really like my one outlet in the townhouse garage but it’s together and really sturdy just not pretty but it’s covered by the liner so nobody will ever see it .

Another great part about living in the PNW , no rust on bolts . Replaced the struts so I put a set of adjustable lower control arm bolts in . Took about 5 more min a side , nice when things just come apart nice and easy with no big hammer needed .
