I did Old NC 105 in my stock Jeep Patriot. Do-able is just about any AWD vehicle. South to north is great for that road. Be prepared for dust! Also, I'm studying for my HAM license and plan to take the test in August. I believe the equipment is cheaper than a CB setup.

Well we are back and MAN! What a beautiful place! Pretty easy drive. We did the whole road from south to north. There were some areas that were washboarded a bit and travel was slow (just in case), but there were plenty of cars (FWD sedans like Accords, etc.) up there. Also, TONS of pull-off...
