    Dual band ham antenna recommendations

Perhaps on an ideal location. However, everyone's placement may be different. Too close to a vertical metal support, you may need to re-tune. I can't mount an antenna directly on my roof because I have a plastic jeep top so I mount on my roof rack and have to retune. My CB antenna on my front...

    Dual band ham antenna recommendations

Yes, but like I said, it does effect your swr out of the box when you add X amount of length to it IF the spring is part of the radiating element.

    12 volt fans?

My buddy uses one and it seems to work great. But what I do is use the fan just to keep the air going and then have a oil lantern to burn citronella and that seems to do a good job as well.

    Dual band ham antenna recommendations

Here is a video of a radio and antenna install I did for a customer last week or so. We mounted a Comet SS680SB onto a Comet RS730 mount. It's a really good combo that has good tune range and dual band as you requested. The nice thing about the mount is that is is foldable. See the big knob in...

    Dual band ham antenna recommendations

If it is added on afterwards, the way many will do with a CB antenna, it will. However, if it is integrated into the antenna as part of the design, then it should be of no issue.

    Winches

I have a 2018 JK with a 8274 mounted on it. It looks ridiculous, but I like doing goony stuff like that! And having 150 feet of 8000 pound test is nice too. But it was quite an accomplishment to get it mounted. The only real down side is my engine will run kind of hot on a long up hill. So I...

Get Started With What You Have

I've found that over the years, the more I go out, the less I take. Now, I will freely admit that I have bought a powered fridge and a jetboil, but the vast majority of my stuff is either older or simple in operation. The fridge was basically because I was tired of messing with ice and the...

    M100 Bantam military Trailer

Ok, this thing is officially in my way. I'm tired of moving it to mow around, haha. Must come to Powell, TN for pick up. Cash only. No Trades. I will not deliver unless you pay 50 cents a mile there and back. I will not discuss bottom or best dollar prior to you seeing the trailer. You can...

More Signs of the Coming Apocalypse

I personally am excited about the prospect of really inexpensive "used one season" gear in the near future. How many folks were looking at the great outdoors last year only to find out that heat, humidity, rain, chiggers, ticks, mosquitoes, no running water, cat holes, and crappy camp coffee...

Vanity Call Signs! What does YOURS mean?

I'll start. N4EGA Eagle Globe Anchor, because US Marine, yut! Come at me bro. What do you have and why?

Let’s be honest; Roof Top Tent- Yay or Nay?

I've been out with tons of dudes with RTTs. When I first saw them, I was like "wow". But after watching everyone one wrestle with them? Nah, I'll just keep sleeping in my Wrangler Unlimited. If the situation goes south, I just crawl into my driver seat and I'm gone. I watched more than one...

    Overlanding/Camping holster

I go total old school on holsters while out in the woods: https://www.atthefront.com/product-p/usgwm3h.htm I use this to carry my G17 or G19. Even thought they were made for the thinner (and outdated:smilingimp:) 1911, the Glocks will fit. What I did was took a wash cloth and soaked it in very...

    12 volt fans?

I do! I take the chainsaw with me on trips and 3 batteries. With the fan on the lower 1/3 it keeps the air moving really well. Plus it drowns out my tinnitus eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Plus when I am sitting down for the evening, I run the fan and it keeps the mosquitos...

Post pictures of your camp kitchen

BOOM! Low tech for life! 15 year old Coleman 533 and a Jetboil because waiting 10 minutes for coffee is for suckers at Starbucks! And yes, that is a MRE Spoon.

AnyTone 578Pro install into a 2016 Toyota Tundra

Yeah, my hearing is kind of messed up with tinnitus and certain pitches of audio drives me nuts, like two cycle engines or children screeching. The 578 was about 8/10 in good to go, but I don't think it as nice as a kenwood 281.

What is your favorite general purpose knot for overlanding?

I'm quite partial to it's cousin, the "directional figure 8". I use it when lashing stuff inside my trailer. Form up a directional figure 8 to where I need it point, click in a carabineer, and then it acts as it own 2:1 pully. Makes for a super secure load. Way better than ratchet straps.

    Bear country

I want to say I saw something about cooking 100 yards from where you sleep and then keep the trash another 100 yards out? I'm in the Smokies (well, next to it) so bear issues when we are out are kind of a thing we think about. But usually, these bear are just looking for a quick snack. They are...

AnyTone 578Pro install into a 2016 Toyota Tundra

This was actually for one of my customers that we did. I have about 10 minutes of operational experiance with the radio :) However, from what I saw, it's seems to be a solid unit. Came with everything we needed but we did switch out the mounting screws from #10 machine screws so the bracket...

    Cherokee National Forest

We go there quite a bit. There are quite a few camp sites outside of the established areas if you drive around and keep your eyes open. But they are, in my opinion, much better than the pay ones. Much more remote and not as trashed up in some of them. Citico Creek is nice, but there is another...

    Hurricane creek

On May 1, I lead a group of new drivers up to Max Patch for the SMOR. I've only been up there a few times, but I was really taken aback by how crowed it was this time. There were probably 20-30 tents on the actual summit of the Max Patch. Large groups of people everywhere. That's cool I guess...
