I got my Technician’s license a couple years ago. Bought a 2M/70cm radio. I generally use 2M since it’s what overlanders use. i run a Tram 1181 which is great for the woods, short enough to avoid breakage, long enough to get good distance.

I spent a few years looking for a Benchmade Bushcrafter 162, finally found one, and it's lived up to it's reputation. Great for splitting wood, starting fires, etc. I also carry a couple Leatherman and Gerber working knives, and a Swiss Army.
I just contacted RAM Mounts to see if they can cut/vend/drill a piece of metal so I can use their product in my 2021 JLUR.
Some intern suggested I spend more money on another one of their products. #lol

Just stumbled onto this thread. I don't like to have stuff mounted at or above the dash level, so I h ave my HAM/GMS mounted to a seat rail mounted Lido Mount kit. Very sturdy, and can be removed/hidden in a couple seconds.

I had to Google for “HAM POTA”. :) Not familiar with those kinds of events. I’m using HAM for off-roading and over-landing, as most of my buddies are running 2M and they monitor two channels. Which is why I bought the FTR-400DX.
