My wife and I are looking at a possible move to the Boca Raton area and I was wondering what the overland scene might be like in the area. I'm very fortunate to have the north Georgia mountains close by here and I'm actually worried about there not being a lot of terrain down in Florida. But on...
Is anybody using a Harbor Freight bottle jack with their recovery gear? I have a Hi-lift jack, and I'm familiar with the dangers and downsides of them. I'm considering adding a bottle jack to my kit and I'm looking for affordable suggestions. Thanks!
I have an older Smittybilt Overlander tent mounted up on my truck that I purchased used. It's in moderately good shape with just a few small issues. One of these issues is the aluminum skin on the platform of my RTT is a little beat up and makes an annoying hollow noise as it's compressed...
Hey guys! Got stuck out in A LOT of rain with my RTT and awning out. It's going to be several days before it stops raining around here. Do you guys have any advice on how to deal with my tent and awning so I don't end up with a moldy mess on my hands? Or is it a mess that just has to be...
I've got a trade set up for this awning in exchange for a ground tent I won and will never use. The owner (face covered for his anonymity) says one of the legs "malfunctions" but not all the time. I was just going to replace the leg if I can source it. First off, can anybody tell me if this...
I installed my Xtrusion Overland rack on my truck at a buddy's house, and then we hopped in the truck to drive up to my office, about a 30 minute drive on the interstate, to get my tent installed on the truck. That drive was the last time my truck didn't whistle while driving interstate speeds...
Has anybody had any luck fitting an aftermarket cover over a Dometic fridge? I have a CFX28 now, and saw how a hot car can effect it's performance. The fridge's display read 60°F! (At least my water was still actually cool!) I looked at the Dometic cover for it but it's $100! :hushed:
So I won this:
So, the big thing to weigh is should I look at getting some sort of carrying case/bag for it to tote along on trips or leave it home.
Cons:
-It's electric (requires power source)
-It's on the large side
-It's electric (food cooked over fire tastes better)
Pros:
-I also won a...
Unfortunately, I've elevated eating food to a hobby in my life. My fat ass loves cooking and a good meal! In fact, I have a food blog with FoodTribe!!! I've been putting readying my truck for overlanding, and I have(a little more than) the bare necessities to accomplish getting...
I've had an issue when navigating the forum on both my work computer (at work) and my personal laptop (at home) with the pages occasionally not loading. Usually I can look at a thread or two and then the pages stop loading and time out. It will be several hours before I can successfully view...
One of our local overlanding guys has been putting this event on for a couple of months, but it sounds like it's found a permanent home at the SweetWater 420 Brewery. The beer is pretty damn good, and the burger was just fine. It was an absolutely beautiful day for sitting outside enjoying a...
I've been very careful about deciding what I want to add to my truck, trying to keep my purchases practical and I've been shopping carefully. I've been saving up money from my food blog earnings and I'm ready to work on one of two things. I'm very conflicted on which one to do. I have...
My wife is not a very big fan of my hobbies, because they cost money. :grinning: While I'm not using this is an excuse to buy cool stuff, I've done some reflection and realized that overlanding as a hobby has a lot of practical aspects to it. A lot of the purchases I've made have practical...
I'm in the process of putting together a camp kitchen chuck box, and I'm about to focus on pots, pans, and dishes. Is there any reason I shouldn't use regular houseware items for a camp kitchen? We have some old pots and pans, and my wife has been after me to throw them away. I was...
The next Skottles & Bottles is scheduled for noon on February 28th at SweetWater Brewery in Atlanta, GA. Here is a quick write-up I did of the first one!

I love cooking and eating. I love cars and trucks. I'm just starting out in the overlanding hobby and I'm excited about the prospects of getting out into some beautiful places and cooking. I've got a food blog here:

I'm considering this stove from Coleman for my camp kitchen:
It runs on 1lb gas bottles, but I will either buy refillable 1lb bottles (to save on waste and money) or use an adapter for a 20lb tank (I will have a 20lb tank on board to also power my generator).
I'm trying to kit out as good as...
We have two dogs that I absolutely love, and I've been thinking about how my new hobby might or might not work with them. I want to get my wife involved in this hobby too, and eventually drag her out with me on a trip from where we live in Georgia out to Southern Utah. The problem is that we'd...
