BLM is seeking comment on public land with no legal access

Ah - that might explain it. A 99-year lease is not the same as a livestock allotment. You are talking about the lease of property - like a cabin. Yes, for those types of leases (which are getting more and more rare) you can probably exclude public access but most likely to a pretty limited area...

BLM is seeking comment on public land with no legal access

I have never heard of a livestock lease that gives the holder the right to exclude public from the land. Like another poster said, if there is a legal access then you have the right to be on that property. BLM only issues use permits that allow the holder to exclude public under certain...

BLM is seeking comment on public land with no legal access

Pretty quick response from OnX "Hey there, Thanks for reaching out with this article. I'm not sure if our access team has seen this or not, but I will certainly pass this along to them. We appreciate your support in helping us bring these landlocked lands and the projects around them to...

BLM is seeking comment on public land with no legal access

I pinged both organizations - sure they are on top of it already but just in case.

BLM is seeking comment on public land with no legal access

BLM is looking to identify lands that have no legal access. Because a lot of BLM land (in the west) came from land swaps with the railroad companies there are a lot of "Sections" that are landlocked by private lands. The adjacent owners often restrict access and use these lands as their own...

Cast Iron or No? (weight right now is not an issue for me)

Wow! Learn something new everyday! Thank you! I'll have to try one of these. Youtube video on cooking and seasoning

    Anyone recognize this rig?

Pretty distinctive set of accessories though. Lift, oversize tires, rock skids, rack and tent and motorcycle that probably has an OHV license. If they are anywhere local they are probably going to get found. Oh - and fabric shell thing - don't see a lot of those.

Cast Iron or No? (weight right now is not an issue for me)

You don't have to spend money on a Griswold. For camping I would go with Lodge. Here is what I do. Take my grinder with an 80 grit flapper disc and smooth out the bottom and sides. Then use an orbital sander and step all the way down to 320 then steel wool. Clean and season in the oven. I did it...

2011 Crown Victoria Police interceptor Build and Suggests

I don't think a locker should be that high up on your list of priorities. I would get tires and clearance then start working on the stuff you want to make it functional and look the way you want. With a locker you can go a few more places without any trail modification. Without a locker you just...

2011 Crown Victoria Police interceptor Build and Suggests

Couldn't help myself with the Blues Brothers references. In my teenage years some friends and I used to get VW bugs and strip them down to make buggies. We put these turning brakes in (we used them for what is now called drifting). They worked great. Should work for feathering the slipping...

2011 Crown Victoria Police interceptor Build and Suggests

It's got a cop motor, a four hundred and forty cubic inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters, so it'll run good on regular gas. We need pictures!

    No more ice!!!

I have a 100 quart Igloo. Pack it with a couple bags of crushed and 1 or 2 blocks (or frozen 1-gallon milk jugs) all in 1/2 of it. Other 1/2 is food. Place dry ice on top of ice. Keep it in the shade and put a moving quilt over it. I have brought ice home from 4 day camping trips in hot weather...

Overland and Emergency SHTF Comms? What to use?

There are others on here more versed in Ham - but simplex without a repeater will only be line of site. So not very effective around the buildings in that zone. Repeater vs satellite in terms of resistance to natural disaster is a good question. I have always thought that amateur repeaters were...

Do you run a DIY tarp awning?

Downside, this is for shade only. Rain goes right through it. Upside is that mylar crap is strong as hell and lets wind through it somewhat and can withstand some strong winds. Plus you would not need anywhere near this size of a tarp for any normal outings with a car/truck. Search for aluminet...

Do you run a DIY tarp awning?

I can't remember the exact size but it is around 30x40 or so. I think it was in the high $200's We were at Burning Man for 2 weeks and it was worth it. You could sleep until about 10 AM before it started getting hot inside. I think it is called Aluminet. I just checked a green house supply and...

Do you run a DIY tarp awning?

Does this count? My 72 bluebird on the playa in the Black Rock desert. You really can overland in anything. :grinning: The poles are army surplus aluminum with a plastic foot at the top. The tarp is from a greenhouse supply. It is 90% shade and made out of woven mylar.

    Dusty, The Trusty Taco

@Paris0514 I think the Ipad is a fair bit lighter than my Surface tablet. I would like to have a place to mount it but would probably need to come from the floor. My FTM-400 head unit is temporarily in a cell phone mount, which works surprisingly well. I am going to move the head unit next to...

    Dusty, The Trusty Taco

Where is your base unit for the FTM-400 mounted? I thought about putting my display where you did but I am right handed and didn't want to have to reach over that way. I'll post a picture of mine when I get home.
