I don't understand open bed trucks with racks and tents.

While it will yet be sometime off, I am thinking of my next new vehicle, likely to be Gladiator with a Decked / rack system. The versatility appeals to me. Like others, my wife has threatened divorce at the mere suggestion of a cap. :)

    My Willy is going Overlanding

Indeed, there are only a few JK colors I don't like. :) It was quite the family decision when I ordered mine. Granite, Anvil and Silver were all contenders. I love black too. But, as Clint Eastwood once said, a man has to know his limitations. Caring for a black vehicle is waaay beyond my...

Fantastic work on your Billet Silver Willys, but then again I am partial to Billet Silver Willys' myself :)

    Old mines, ghost towns, etc......

I have not been out to Sasco in some time, but we go occasionally. My wife has family buried at the adjacent old cemetery. Last time I explored the mining town, it was really really trashed. A terrible shame, as the history is lost. Neat place otherwise. And yeah, aside from crossing the Santa...

    OB Approved Personal Satellite Communicators

Personally, the Garmin low-cost annual plan is the least expensive and most convenient. The rate based text is no biggie. It is always on, which is one less thing to worry about.

Truth be told ... I'd rather climb up than climb down. Up is hard. Down is hard and scary.

    OB Approved Personal Satellite Communicators

Wow. Thanks for sharing! I think these stories are important as cautionary tales, and improve the general body of knowledge amongst the community at large! I am familiar with Peralta Trail and that general area. View from the top of Flat Iron toward AJ. The elevation gain on these trails...

Oh yeah. Bad place to be reckless. Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon I have been backpacking pretty regularly in the Grand Canyon backcountry since 1995, and fools are not suffered gladly. Neither does the Park Service, rightly so.

Glad as well to hear everything went okay for you too! I seem to recall hearing about this on the local news. I am in Florence, btw. What trail in the Superstitions if you don't mind me asking?
