I’m thinking of purchasing a Disco but there may be an issue with the transmission. I found this thread and thought you guys might have some advise. When trying to shift into 4L or 4H there is NO resistance at all. The shifter moves so easily a toddler could do it. Thoughts? I know nothing about...
Garmin now owns the inReach but it was DeLorme. When Garmin bought them out they raised the prices and changed the look. If you don’t want to pay new $$$ try buying the DeLorme version. I have the last DeLorme model and Garmin still provides services.
Hey guys,
I’m going to be in Zion next week and am looking for a trail or 2 to explore in the area. As I’m just getting started any suggestions are greatly appreciated but easy trails would be best (I still have to drive 600 miles home). In case it helps I have a Silverado, stock ride height...
I have that setup. My solution was Costco! I found an 8 inch memory foam mattress on sale for $160 before tax. The best part is because I built my system myself I was able to take the mattress to my local upholstery shop and they cut it to my specs for $10. Here’s a picture sans mattress.
Figured it out. I had an Inno surf board rack I swiped the mounting brackets off of and bolted them up to the ARB brackets. I don’t care what ARB says those brackets are not meant to be used with Yakima round bars. I had hoped to use Ubolts, as so many others seem to do, but just wasn’t...
I have a Snugtop topper and can tell you sealing the tailgate is the least of your worries. I used a tailgate sealer in addition to some thicker & wider shell weather stripping. Not 100% but just about. Now for the bad news. The real problem is the bed design it’s self. I see you have a GMC, I...
I’ve searched the forums before posting, I promise. I’m leaving for WY in 2 weeks and want to add an ARB 2500 awning. I have Yakima round bars and am looking for mounting solutions. Does anyone know if the Yakima Slim Shady mounting hardware will work with the ARB awning? Are the ARB mounting...
I know there aren’t many Central Coast overlanders but thought I'd share this just in case. This course is only offered at Allan Hancock College during the Fall semester. Hope see you there!
I have a family member with a comfort dog she takes everywhere. We did extensive research on ESA requirements before she relocated, via airplane, with her companion. ESAs still need documentation from a medical professional, otherwise there are legal ramifications. Due to poorly behaved animals...
Please don’t do this unless your dog is a TRUE therapy dog. It gives service animals a bad name, is illegal, and can result in your dog being confiscated. If you have a newer vehicle with remote start you can crack the windows and start your car. It should turn on the AC for up to 10 minutes. If...
I know I already posted my rig but I just put the finishing touches on the bed and wanted to share. I made the box from scratch and the drawers run the length of the bed. Made the curtains to fit each window. The screen door (last picture) was the most frustrating but figured it out in the end...
Thanks for the recommendations. My recovery bag has 20’ and 8’ snatch straps and 2 3/4” shackles, to start. Still looking at compressors. Since weight is not a concern I’m thinking a tent from Costco will do- not too expensive and if my husband decides overlanding isn’t going to workout, I pass...
Hey guys, I'm looking to get into Overlanding with my husband. While I'm 100% physically, he has only about 60-70% use of his right arm. We used to love camping before life got in the way. Now that our son is going off to college I'm looking for a way to bring him back into the outdoors. We're...
