Thanks for the welcome and others thanks for the welcomes. Since moving, I've upgraded the rig from a half ton to a Power Wagon. Hoping to get out of the winter into some warmer weather and a trip to LBL is calling my name.
I took my GF's front wheel drive, street tired Ford Escape up through the passes in Big Bear (This was the weekend before I brought my truck back from Texas). She didn't mind...but there were parts that we definitely shouldn't have gone. Sometimes a little momentum is all your need...
Picked up an Intex Excursion Pro Kayak. It's nice enough for what I use it for. It's slower than a hard kayak, in cold water you will need to carry the pump, and the included paddles leave much to be desired. But it's price point is perfect for the occasional paddle in a lake, slow river, or...
I went the opposite route. I can't leave my tent and equipment in my truck so the time. The GF complains when I ask her to help put the tent on the rack. The trailer allows me to leave it all set up all the time, reducing packing time before a trip. Freeing up the weight on my rig once I setup...
RTT for now. I enjoy the ability to always be off the ground. This is especially nice when camping in bear/big cat country, but even when I go to National Parks in a traditional campground people aren't looking into your tent.
Love these ZR2's. I would get one if it had a better towing capacity...but then again you can't have that awesome suspension and towing capacity. Didn't realize the small Duramax had that small of a tank. My EcoDiesel gets 700-800 per 26 gallon tank on the highway.
I have the first generation EcoDiesel and haven't had any issues with mine. Others not so much as reports state about a 6% failure on engines which is higher than normal for any auto manufacturer. That being said, the Jeep Gladiator coming out with the diesel is the 3rd Generation of that engine...
I hope more people keep exploring the outdoors. I wish they become more conscious of the places they chose the visit. Public land belongs to us all to preserve...not an entitled few who seek to exclude others. People ask for coordinates, I simply give them generalized areas and encourage them to...
Intex Excursion Pro Kayak. I want the ability to get on the water while overlanding and unwilling to go with a traditional kayak because I don't want to strap/unstrap it all the time. These seem like a good deal for $200.
The release of the 3.0L Duramax numbers are enticing. I currently overland a 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and the extended range is phenomenal compared to the V8's I used to drive.
For me, I like the Duramax/10 Speed combo in a GMC AT4, but I also like the idea of the 3rd GEN EcoDiesel in the Rebel...
Def interesting. Seems a viable option for taller SUV's otherwise you have a sail on the back end of the vehicle. Tongue weight on the heavier tents will change vehicle dynamics, break over angle will change to extra length, and the tent will most likely rattle without a stabilizing brace.
It...
Putting semi-derogatory labels on people who are just trying to enjoy a hobby seems to be a way of alienating others. Superiority and inferiority complexes divide people and shouldn't have a place in our community.
