I did this last October in my 1991 suburban and it was an excellent route. We camped on the east side and it was pretty chilly when we got up that morning to start the pass. But it warmed up to 60’s that afternoon in GSD NP. A stock 1/2 ton pickup could do the trail with a decently skilled driver.

Finally built the sleep platform. I’ve been staring at the drawer slides for a year. Still have to carpet it and anchor it but I’m beyond happy with how the size turned out.
