The Tacoma bed is made of a composite plastic and is very slick, a bed mat would be a must. A crate properly secured in the bed is probably the best option, make sure to keep an eye on the temps back there!
The manual transmission is great and is fine Off Road if you are an experienced driver, makes the truck really fun to drive, and should be fairly robust. From my research it is similar design to the Hilux transmissions. Only thing I don't like about it is the reverse is geared a bit high.
hello, new member from British Columbia. Currently driving a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off Road with manual transmission, a-trac, and rear locker. last rig was a 2014 JK 2 door, very fun on the trails but not very practical for anything else, loving the Tacoma so far!
