Manistee national forest, Gaylord state forest. Michigan state forests has lots of really small campgrounds that are free or super cheap. Couple of spots on ioverland also.

Spent the night at muelly point last year. The stars were unbelivable, this coming from someone who lives east of yhe mississippi. Looks like you had a great trip.

Stayed in badin lake campground this time last year during the week. Only one other spot was occupied. Nice forest service campground. Also drove down to end of deep water trail. Looked really nice but guess it would get busy on a weekend. The outpost was also really helpfull.

Not to be a smart ass . But how about as a jeep using existing vin. I built a teardrop in IN. Had to have it inspected to prove it didnt have a vin. Then after providing documention I built it(reciepts) state issued a vin, then had to have it inspected a second time to make sure it had a vin...

Second Nebraska national forest. Its the largest man made forest in the world. Really different from surrounding sandhills. There a dinosaur dig near there also. Custer state park is a must see.

Ok here's my build

Check out sheep mountain road. Also sage creek campground if you in the park. Woke up to buffalo scratching in our picnic table. Which freeked out wife and kids. Sheep mountain is day use but never saw a ranger back there. Black hills National forest mvum maps are at ranger stations or online...
