Finally joined the fridge/freezer club! Costway 54qt

So now with the hotter weather here in Houston, my fridge can’t be run like before. The Jeep gets too hot inside for the fridge and Jeep battery to keep up. Maybe if my commute was 45minutes each way instead of 20 it would top off the battery. Same with running off just the Yeti400. With the...

Fridge is still running great. I noticed that when connected to my Yeti400 the fridge’s low voltage protection kicks on at about 30%. So I switched it from Medium to Low protection. Now it uses up more of the battery if I let it. It will also drain your Jeep battery below starting level if you...

It’s not well insulated so it doesn’t hold temp when turned off. If it’s 90F in the Jeep it’ll go from 32f to 50f in an hour. As for battery usage, it does pretty well at fridge temps 36F will run for a full day without the engine running. That’s if it’s 85F in the Jeep. If it’s hotter it’ll...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

So jealous, those trailers are SWEEET.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Damn dude. I had all four brakes n rotors, water pump, replace brake fluid and coolant on our Lexus GX460 and it was only $1275. You need to find a better shop if you can’t do it yourself. The labor rate at the shop I use is $120/hr too.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I added the Teraflex Big Rotor Kit to Polar Express. Big difference in stopping power and pedal feel from stock.

I don’t think there are many deals on fridges, this one is pretty low already. My “54qt” can hold an 18 pack of beer on each side of the main compartment and two half gallon containers in the smaller section. If you need to refrigerate your dog food it would depend on how much you feed them...

More Power!! Adding batteries to a Yeti400

Thanks! I really wanted to go with a dual battery setup for the Jeep but that’s around $800 battery+kit. This was cheaper and gives me a lot of flexibility, although it does take up space in the back, which sucks.

More Power!! Adding batteries to a Yeti400

Yeah, their charge solutions aren’t great but that’s why I didn’t go with the 400 lithium. I specifically wanted to be able to charge this with the Jeep AND be able to daisy chain additional batteries. Love the compactness and output of the Li it just didn’t suit my needs.

More Power!! Adding batteries to a Yeti400

It’s not a lot of AH, but for the price and size it’s pretty good. I’ve already run the fridge a full 26hrs off the Yeti alone, by tripling the storage capacity I should be good for a long weekend. I’ve got a small solar panel that will help when parked, and the Yeti will be plugged into the...

For those that wanted a rundown on the Yeti/battery setup, here’s a link to the thread I just started in General Discussion. More Power!! Adding batteries to a Yeti400 https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/index.php?threads/More-Power%21%21-Adding-batteries-to-a-Yeti400.22042/

More Power!! Adding batteries to a Yeti400

I bought my GoalZero Yeti400 to run my A-PAP and charge stuff up while camping. Then I ditched my cooler and got a fridge. The Yeti can run the fridge all night but a fridge and the A-PAP puts a big drain on it. There are Anderson ports on each side so you can daisy chain 400s together, so why...

I’ll make sure to post updates, as buying a fridge for most of us is a huge deal. So far it’s been working well, however it’s also been colder than normal. I’m trying to figure out a budget slide for it, something like a Drifta kitchen. Using PTFE to let the drawer slide. I’ll post stuff on that...

I would be extremely happy with that setup too! You’ve got more money wrapped up in batteries than I have for my whole system. [emoji23] When I get a trailer, your system is what I want to do. Looks awesome man.

I was able to buy everything off amazon. The post-to-Anderson connectors and battery boxes come in tomorrow but the batteries won’t be here until next week. I’ll post the product list and photos of the setup when I get the batteries. That’s right, I’m adding two instead of one, because why not...

Coolers are fine, I was tired of mine taking up so much space and dealing with the weight. Food for 4 people plus ice, plus big ass cooler gets heavy and takes up a ton of space. After selling a couple of nice coolers, I was only out $120 for the fridge. I lost a little money on the coolers but...

Yup. Totally understand, I’d do the same thing if it were only me. Having my wife, 6yr old and 4yr old boys along needed a big ass cooler or a decent sized fridge. This was a good option for us.

If you want to spend more money to maybe get a better warranty or something, the same fridge/freezers can be bought from Smittybilt for $799 and Tuff Stuff just sent me an ad for their new fridge/freezer for $749. exactly the same as the one I purchased off Amazon for $379 right down to the plugs.

Nope. It only has a setting for target temp and Eco or High mode. Granted, on High mode it may start the compressor sooner than Eco mode. So it maybe similar to what you’re talking about, but there’s no way for me to choose the exact temps. That would be a nice feature, it’s probably available...

The handle at the rear has four Phillips head screws, just like the front handle that has the control panel in it. So I imagine that you could remove it pretty easily and it would save about 2-3” of space. All the vents are back there so you’d need to ensure it can breathe. I like your slide out.
