    Our Journey to Moab

Top of the World The next day we had a later start and decided to check out Top of the World. Most of the trails was pretty straight forward with a few optional ledges to play on. Photo Credit: Mike Goedde I didn’t get a ton of shots on this trail but captured the one everyone seems to get...

    Our Journey to Moab

What can I say about Moab? It is known by many as the off road capital of the world. For myself, it’s a place that embodies two things I love: Mountain Biking and Overlanding (aka fancy car camping). Our trip plans called for just about a week of backcountry travel, dispersed camping and...

    Crossing the Mojave Desert

The lava tube was right off of Aiken Mine Rd and the slot canyon pictured was just about 5 miles from the river crossing when approaching from the east I believe. Will have to check Gaia to confirm!

Tower Arch & Top of the World, Moab

If you ever make it up to Moab again definitely check out Seven Mile Rim. Hands down my favorite trail in Moab!

Tower Arch & Top of the World, Moab

Great pics! I just did Top of the World a few days ago and agree with your assessment. The "normal" route up to the right was fine. The eastern route down was much more technical. We unfortunately had to do it at night as we ran out of daylight at the top. It was pretty sketchy and many of the...

    Crossing the Mojave Desert

You'll be fine. Just make sure you go slow and steady and don't lose momentum. If you have low differential breathers I would extend them up beforehand. The Mojave Rd is actually quite heavily trafficked so even if you have a catastrophic failure someone will eventually come along to help. The...

2017 Tacoma TRD 4X4 Offroad overland build in progress

FYI, if possible you should mount that solenoid upright. The way you have it mounted now makes it a little more vulnerable from water damage (per National Luna). There should be spots where you can mount it on the fender walls.

Return to Death Valley (A Trip Report)

Thanks! You are 100% correct. Campfires are NOT allowed in Death Valley National Park unless in established metal fire rings. The two places I camped at (Pleasant Canyon/Goler Wash) were actually on BLM land right outside the park's borders. BLM land in this area is currently under Stage 1...

Return to Death Valley (A Trip Report)

So a little over a year ago I had my first visit to Death Valley and was totally blown away by what I experienced and saw. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever think that a place with such a morbid name would be so beautiful and scenic. The first trip comprised of visits to Racetrack Playa...

    Crossing the Mojave Desert

BONUS: Sedona, AZ After our Mojave adventure we spent a few days in beautiful Sedona Arizona. I came out there for some mountain biking and finally got to put my bike to use after dragging it across the Mojave desert :) We also got in an amazing hike up Mt Wilson, it rose 2,700 feet in...

    Crossing the Mojave Desert

Crossing the Mojave I usually do trip writeups in my build thread but I thought this one deserved its very own place. Over Thanksgiving break I had the privilege to spend a few days crossing the Mojave Desert with @cytronus and another friend. Spent a good amount of time doing research and...

    Alabama Hills

That Swansea route is one of my favorite Death Valley trails. Just challenging enough to make it interesting but with tremendous views. Alabama Hills is also my favorite place to camp in CA was just there a couple of weeks ago! It's pretty small though, how did you spend 3 days there?!

Wanted Wanted: 265/70/17 KO2's, KM2's, STMaxx, STT Pro, etc. low miles. 4or5

I have a set of 275/70-17 BFG KO2s with about 25,000 miles on them. Ton of tread left. Had this itch to upgrade to 285s but thought it would be a waste to just upgrade without wearing the tires down first. Im in SF so not too far. Let me know if that would be interesting to you.

    Awning/Awning rooms and wind

I use my ARB Awning Room as our main tent all the time (Cant fit a RTT tent in my garage). Spent at least 30 nights camping in it in the deserts and mountains of CA, AZ, UT, OR, WA and British Columbia. There were only two nights I had to sleep in the truck because of winds being too strong...
