My DIY rear tire/fuel carrier using stock bumper

I agree, but the alternatives are inside my 4Runner, or the roof. Both equally bad locations. Currently, it’s empty as I drive. I fill it before a trip, then empty it when I refill after my trips. My location is no different than every other aftermarket set up. I understand the concern though.

I’ll have to look at the cost break down. The little things add up. But I wanted more stability and clearance than the Wilco set up. They make great products, just wasn’t what I was looking for. I debated buying it at first.

My DIY rear tire/fuel carrier using stock bumper

Honestly... I probably won’t. This being one big reason. And it’s also not something I see myself being passionate about. I’m building a brand for other things, and this doesn’t fall within where I see my direction going. Hopefully the video does inspire some, or show some things that can help...

The Adventurous Mind - Overland Adventure Vlogs

I figured I would make one thread and post my updates here? I've been working on a YouTube Vlog series over the last couple months. Next spring, I move to Colorado and plan to make 1-2/wk once I do. For now, whenever I can get on some trips! Take a look and I hope you enjoy. Theres a few...

My DIY rear tire/fuel carrier using stock bumper

Haha that's part of the reason why I wanted the bare bones 4WD. Electronics always seem to complicate things.

My DIY rear tire/fuel carrier using stock bumper

I tried thinking outside of the box... plus not wanting to spend $2k on a bumper helped haha

My DIY rear tire/fuel carrier using stock bumper

I'm looking for something that I can cut/splice in to the stock wiring. And mount up high. I honestly haven't researched though. I'll look in to this one too! Thanks!

That view though! Haha. What aftermarket cameras are people using for their rear bumper set ups? Good news is, I'm learning how to use my mirrors again!! You don't realize how some technology creates bad habits over time.

My DIY rear tire/fuel carrier using stock bumper

First use with the tire, I did a 3 day trip out to AZ from CA with off-roading from Phoenix to Flagstaff plus Sedona. By time I got home, there was a very minor movement on the tire. Trail friends said that there was zero movement on the trail. I tightened the bolts and haven't had an issue...

My DIY rear tire/fuel carrier using stock bumper

I tossed around a few ideas already for V2.0 lol. I swear, my brain doesn't want to relax [emoji23]

Not too sure. I need to mount a 3rd party back up camera up higher. Then I might mount an amber dust light on top of the jerry can mount. My Gobi rack has two tabs in the rear that can fit single row 4-6" LEDs for reverse lights.

My DIY rear tire/fuel carrier using stock bumper

I might. I've had a bunch of requests. I was originally going to draw it in CAD, then decided to wing it and just throw it together. Might go back and used my build for measurements and draw it in CAD like I was originally going to. This will probably be months away though. I want to test this...

My DIY rear tire/fuel carrier using stock bumper

Many days and I finally finished my v1.0 of my rear carrier set up. I did this on my 4Runner, but it can apply to most any vehicle. I have many ask me about it, so I made a video! I still want to make some improvements, but that will be for v1.1 :sunglasses: Let me know what you think!

Fuel The Vets: A Team Overland Fundraiser

Here is my recap from the Fuel The Vets event. I ended up bringing my 6 year old son to check out the rigs and meet up with some good friends. He wanted to help film, so of course I let him. It was a great event with a much larger turn out than I expected. I hope they make this a yearly event...
