NE Ohio here. Going to hit up Allegheny Nat Forest this summer. AEP lands in southern Ohio are good but can get busy. Not a ton of stuff in this area by comparison to NY, MI, central PA, and the states just south unfortunately.

I learned skills as a youth but we called them "how not to die". I forgot some of them and over the last few years have started teaching my son. He loves basic bushcrafting, and can't wait to do more adventures with him before he hits his teen years and knows everything.
Looking to do an early summer trip with dispersed camping. I'm taking a friend and his son that are new to dispersed camping, and am looking at hitting up the Allegheny NF for a few days with them. I have some waypoints in Gaia that supposedly denote some camping spots, but I'm not really sure...
@Steve I have been bouncing around the idea of an offroad popup (or buying used and strengthening the frame and flipping the axle) so the wife would be more comfortable. The one thing I can say about at least the UP, they have some of the nicest state camp grounds I have ever seen. Super...
It was great trip to start exploring the UP. Learned a lot, and realized how much more there is to see and explore. It was my first more then a weekend camping trip as a dad and we had a blast. My son can't wait till the next one. Neither can I. :)

My son had started to pick up a cough so we decided to head back a day early. He has asthma and a cough can become more quickly. We stuck to paved roads, but did more exploring on the way.

We spent a couple of days enjoying the beauty of the area. I haven't seen water that clear outside of the Caribbean. Next time (or should I say next year), I'll go a little later in the season when it's warmer so swimming is a non hypothermic option. [emoji1]

We spent the following day looking for another camp site and waterfall hunting. Here are some of the sites.
We found a spot that interested us greatly, but it was supposed to be 40 degrees and raining on Superior. So while we had sun, we got permission from the hotel (if you ever need a...
We found a great spot to camp for the second night. We found a lot of lakes surrounded by private property, but this one looked perfect. (minus the mosquitos)

Of course, it started raining. Then it started pouring. Then we spent...
Sorry for the rotated pics, they are coming off my phone where they display with no issue
After a decent night's rest, we awoke and made breakfast under a barrage of mosquitos. They are huge, aggressive, hungry and everywhere. We could care less about the potential side effects of DEET, it was...
After months of planning, we rolled out on May 28th from Cleveland, Ohio headed up to the UP. The goal was to see what we could see, stay on dirt and camp. But also to be realistic and have fun.
The trip up was easy enough. When we got to the Mackinac Bridge, it was covered with fog. That was...
I have found that air guns make this even more fun. No brass to pick up, quieter, very cheap for plinking.

I guess it's cause of how I was raised, but a .22 pistol should always go with you when you go back country. It makes a great little snake killer, ammo is light (even if it is no longer cheap :( ), and squirrel/grouse/bunny/etc keeps your belly from thinking your throat has been cut.
I keep a...
How much of it is slop in your steering vs "walk" in the front end?
Have you or a prior owner replaced all the bushings? And if you have did you upgrade them to poly?
It sounds to me like there is something else going on and a stabilizer will likely just mask the problem for a while until...
So I know some people like to carry lots of water, others just plan on boiling/purifying a lot.
Being mostly in the midwest (KY, WV, OH, IN, MI), there is usually water to be found. But most of it probably is a breeding ground for mosquitos and other other bugs. Having had 2 hospital visits...
I almost forgot my "action" cam for my trip until I saw this thread come up. I have a go pro copy that I got cheap. It's slightly bigger, not as fancy, but works for me. And now having seen this thread, it's in the truck for the trip. :)
