    Mojave Road - Fall 2021

Would you expect snow in late-November? It'll probably be pretty cold at night then, but wouldn't affect the drive.

    Mojave Road - Fall 2021

Are you driving up on the morning of the 27th, or are you staying in a hotel locally (Needles) Friday night? I may be able to get to the area on Friday evening - I'm coming from NorCal. I assume that you're running the trail East to West?

Hollister Hills SVRA Sunday, May 27, 2018

It rained last night and this morning in Santa Cruz county - Hollister may be a bit wet and muddy - don't get stuck!

Santa Cruz OB - Meetup at Davenport this Sunday! - 05/20/2018

Yup, we're aware of that problem! We're instead registering the "yes'es" in the comments section to that Rally Point, so make a post there (not here), indicating your intent, so that we can add you to the list. Thx.

One can camp directly on the beach (at Usal Beach), or in the brushes just inside of the sand. For disbursed camping further north and along the trail, call the visitor center that I described in my writeup below in a different thread...

Santa Cruz OB - Meetup at Davenport this Sunday! - 05/20/2018

Three Admins as well as three local members showed up (plus more after I left?) for the meetup. We discussed where to go for our 6/29 ~ 7/1 run, and decided on Kaiser Pass - see Rally Point and details below: https://www.overlandbound.com/event/kaiser-pass-run/

I live about 45 minutes from Hollister, CA, and highly recommend the Hollister SVRA for your visit; however, you may need to unhitch your trailer for most of the trails - lots of tight turns with trees and branches. If you're spending at least a week in California, I'd also recommend that you...

    Kaiser Pass Run - 06/29/2018

What do people have for communications - CB, Ham (I use both), what else? It'd be nice if we could all run CBs - here's a popular kit with Uniden radio and Procomm antenna, for pickups, for $97...

OBNW: Second Annual Memorial Day Adventure - 05/26/2018

Are you doing this run annually? My truck's not up to it this year, but I hope to join up next year - from northern California. Have fun and post some pics afterwards!

Northern California (East Bay) Meet up.

There are trails for every skill level at Hollister - green, blue, red. You should be fine on blue (moderate), but I'd recommend that you have some skid-plates underneath.

    Bay Area radio sales?

I also run both Ham and CB, depending on whom I run with. CB's ok for close-range, but Ham is awesome in every way - signal clarity and distance (thanks to repeaters). I likewise studied for the Ham test on my own and online, and passed the Technician test about 10 days later, at a local test site.

If you're willing to organize a camping trip to Mendo, I'm sure that many of us would love to join, myself included! Mendo's on my list of places to wheel, and I've been poring over maps for months now. There is an annual gathering of classic Land Rovers in Mendo, and despite not owning one, I...

    1st overland trail

The route that I used was 72 miles in length, which encompasses Usal Beach to Shelter Cove, up to Honeydew, and inland to Humboldt Redwoods State Park. I don't know that there is a a "Lost Coast Trail" per se, but I'd consider Usal Beach up to Honeydew as part of the Lost Coast. One could turn...
