The Savannah way last year. 2300 miles of some paved but mostly dirt, dust, washouts, dust holes, and many many corrugations, that runs across the north of the Australian continent. we took our time and did it in 9 days.
the Old Telegraph Track, Cape York QLD. from 2014, These are photos of a few of the water crossings , the Trail is about 130 miles of wash outs, ruts, creeks with steep inclines and descents, takes about 2 days. Its a bucket list item for many here. I loved it.
Great looking rigs , I am jealous. We haven't been able to buy a new 4Runner here in AUS since the early 90's . :disappointed:
We get this instead, this is "Lara" my Fortuner. She has a 2.8 L 4 cylinder turbo diesel with a six speed auto.
I love it, we have had many adventures in the 3 years...
our two have always travelled with us and loved it. the "old girl" on the right is over 16 now and getting frail as well as being completely deaf and mostly blind, we let her and her 11 year old mate stay home with my son these days. as you can see they like to be comfortable.
They still are not...
headed out on to the water with good friends (14) for a 2 1/2 hour / 10 klm paddle down the river, on Australia day. the blue Kayak, I bought new in 1988 many good times.

our summers are too hot and wet (40c+) with storms many afternoons, Winters are relatively dry and mild. most days around 24c and cool nights for sleeping.
