Having just got back from the Adirondacks and growing up in the Catskills I strongly recommend a stay in Moose River Plains. From what I’ve seen it is a solid choice in any season (if you’re ok with camping in snow). It is a vast and scenic area in itself but also about 2-3 hours from Whiteface...

I don’t think there’s a bad site in MRP, but there are some epic ones. On my trip up there I think my best shots were in MRP. A good 5-7 days could be enjoyed there

Oh wow! I was camped at moose river plains 28sep-1oct. We went through tipper lake and went to Whiteface on the 30th (Thursday) It would’ve been cool if we bumped into each other! Really cool trip and thread you got going here!

Rafted down the Delaware River, camped out overlooking the valley in central PA which led to waking up above the clouds and had a relaxing dinner with the wife around White’s Bog in NJ.

I’m in NJ (fort lee). It might be worth getting a GMRS license and radio in your truck. A lot of us who have both licenses end up using GMRS when simplex a lot of times for convenience sake. You won’t get anywhere near 50 miles in this area though lol Repeater networks here on GMRS are small...
