Any excuse to get into the outdoors works for me and I have many interests to sustain that. Foraging wild edibles particularly mushrooms. Fishing (Tenkara rod, Fly rod, regular rods) and duck hunting from blinds or kayak. Catch, gather and cook. Love being on the water with a canoe or kayak, exploring
Grew up in North Eastern Quebec, upper part of the Ottawa River, my family operated a Fly In Camp. After a stint in the Canadian Armed Forces (Assault Pioneer), I operated a Fly In Camp. Then unfortunately I got into the main stream and moved to more populated cities to begin a career in managing various kinds of small and med sized businesses.
Now at 64 spending much more time in the outdoors, regaining my bush instincts and just enjoying being out there. On retiring I hppe to travel and camp the West Coast for the Sunshine Coast of BC to the tip of the Baja, over a 3-4 month period. Might get to meet up with fellow members along the way.
Listened to a newly published book the other day about how spending time in nature is good for you. Funny how things that were always known become trendy eh! So often we poo poo old knowledge in favour of new tech. We caught a lot of fish without fish finders and hunted many moose without GPS. The trails were travel with a Chevy 4x4, some chains and maybe a winch, no extra stuff. Wonder who made the we travel follow now fully rigged.
