    Scandinavian trip in 2020

It might be a bit late but it’s worth a visit to the hydroelectric power plant at Vemork . Made famous by the heroes of the telemark / Ray Mears. We did a similar trip a few years ago taking about 6 weeks. Also when you get to Nord Kapp, look out for the walk that takes you away from the...

Gaia GPS app in UK / Europe?

Thanks for the replies, I was hoping Gaia might be the mythical cheap mapping solution for Europe as it gets many good reviews in the US. I did look at upgrading the maps on the trusty Garmin but even country by country they are super expensive for my budget !

    Idea for charging house battery

Agree with above, double check your alternator max output as inverters can have surprisingly large current consumption. I had a 7.5 tonne truck, because it was designed to be on the motorway for long periods with basic electrical needs the alternator was only 20-30A ( at 24v) had to upgrade it...

    Idea for charging house battery

    Why #vanlife Sucks

Having lived in our ‘van’ for best part of this year and in various vehicles over the last 20years, most of the negatives in the article are down to planning. I agree about the size of the rig, after several large van and trucks I’ve now not the smallest motorhome with a bathroom. I find that...

    12v always hot options

From several years using 12v compressor fridges they are not so heavy on current but are very voltage sensitive . Use the (physically not ampage) largest fuse you can, with the best quality heaviest cables and connectors you feel you can get away with . Minimise voltage drop from battery...
