I just saw this too! I want to love the new defender... but don’t want to spend $65k on it.
Coincidentally, I just ordered my new 4Runner... good by 2012, hello 2020!
My go to list for my little ones:
1) Tennis ball... hours of games
2) Para cord...
3) Books/Pencils... they’ll get to them if it rains
4) odd jobs around camp... gives them purpose some contribution.
The sticks, rocks, trees and water will take care of the rest...
Random Friday night thought.
They say there will be a pick up version as well as a regular wagon version... and it’s likely not a body of frame... does that mean we would end up with a unibody pick up defender???!!!
A Honda Ridgeline spec Defender sure would be disappointing!!!
(Unless...
Yeah, unibody doesn’t have the same feel as a ladder frame... I’m not willing to ride this one off yet... Step 1: let’s get it here and Step 2: bolt on some “Africa spec” parts to make it go.
Does make you appreciate the “ain’t broke, don’t fix it” Land Cruiser and 4Runner though...
I’m a Land Rover guy at heart but a Toyota guy with my back pocket...
I know it won’t be the same as the Series 2A of my younger years, but happy none the less that there will be another new vehicle in the market to keep the off road scene alive.

Hey, where did you get that green storage container under your stove (top photo)?... I think that’s exactly what I’ve been looking for for years! Brand?
