You have just solved a missing piece of my puzzle. May not use it for campibg but definitely for "emergency" preparedness. Thanks!

    GSI Coffee Rocket

I typically use the GSI Ultralite Java Drip with a paper filter. My wife and I each have one for backpacking and even though we have 2 sizes of GSI French presses and the French Press kit for the Jet Boils, it just takes up the least space and is the easiest cleanup for us. If we are cooking for...

    Dog first aid

Don't forget a muzzle. Even the most gentle, trusting pet can bite when they are injured and scared. Especially when the pet is not yours. Out of the 3 time I have been bitten by my own dogs, 2 of them were when they were injured. The other time I was a toddler and got in the dogs face.

Refilling 1lb tanks, who does it?

Prior to Flame King, I refilled the single use 1lb bottles often. When I was a Buyer at an Outdoor Company (Adventure 16), I was looking for refillable 1lb tanks for YEARS. When I found Flame King was in the process of bringing them to market, I jumped on and partenered with them immediately...

My version of a water can electric pump......Now V2

Uhhh. Got news for you. The Sawyer has no carbon element and therefore does nothing to change taste from the plastic container. The filter you are using to fill does have a carbon element and does margionally improve taste. From the Sawyer website: Does the Sawyer filter remove taste...

Wisdom heard today from an overlanding old-timer about where to start

Backpacker, Mountaineer, Expedition Paddler here. The good news is, you already have the skillset and gear to camp lightly. Lots of people try to make up for knowledge with inefficiency. Air mattresses, clunky tents, bulky cooking setups. Not saying you need to stick with your backpacking gear...

    Jet Boil ?

The Jetboils were originally about fuel efficiency. Everyone get caught up in how "fast" they are, but it's really about how much fuel is consumed per boil. Once you hit about 4 days on a backpacking trip with 2 people, Jetboils start to make sense from a weight pespective as the weight of the...

    Jet Boil ?

Fromer Buyer for an specialty backpacking store here. Grew up using Sveas, Bluets, Whisperlites and Coleman stoves depending on the type of trip. I remember seeing the first prototype Jetboil in a tiny booth at OR probably 15 years ago. Jetboil likes to market the speed of boil but the real...

    Powering Electric Cooler- Questions

Couple of questions to ask yourself. 1) Does your Rockpals support 12 Volt pass-through charging? If it can- good. If it cannot, you cannot charge and run the fridge at the same time. 2) What kind of solar charge controller does your Rockpal have (PWM or MPPT) ? MPPT is more efficient and will...
