    MAXTRAX

I considered buying them but saw more negative reviews than positive ones. They appear to have used a lower quality plastic or design that cracks easily. I ended up going with Maxsa.

    MAXTRAX

Maxsa mats are pretty commonly used in my overland group. Work great for 1/3 the price. Only down side to them over the Maxtrax I can see is they don't stack inside each other as well. The URL doesn't seem to be working, just search on Amazon and you'll find them.

    Rotopax 3.5 gal Fuelpax

Sorry, I told you wrong. Just talked with this member of the Midwest Overlanders who said he was able to double stack his Fuelpax using a 3 gallon extension and a standard lock mount. Looks like you're in luck! Instagram: "tferv" Base camp: Indiana. Rig: 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Member of...

    Rotopax 3.5 gal Fuelpax

I haven't heard that. I don't see why not as far as the tank is concerned. However, gas can't be stored long term anyway as gas starts to go bad after 30 days. If you plan to have gas sitting around (in a tank or vehicle) for more than 30 days (I say 60) you should put fuel stabilizer in with...

What tires do you like? (Merged Thread)

I just got new tires this week. I ended up not going with the GY MTRs that I was originally leaning toward and went with Cooper Discoverer STT Pros 35x12.5x15. So far very impress with on-road. Noise is minimal for a MT, looks like it should do decent in winter weather (as they remind me a bit...

What tires do you like? (Merged Thread)

It's impossible to say this tire is the best and this one is the next best. There are so many variables to consider in tire choice, some tires are better for different terrain and this group has a broad range of different needs. Personally, I am more of a mud terrain guy, some people spend...

    Rotopax 3.5 gal Fuelpax

No, it would not work. These are 4" deep so the adapter won't lengthen far enough. They are 21" long so I plan to mount 2 across the width of my rack, so would be 42" across my 46" wide rack. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

    Rotopax 3.5 gal Fuelpax

Unboxing review: I just got my 3.5 gal Fuelpax in today! They are made by Rotopax but are blow-molded (like most gas cans) which is a cheaper process than their standard Rotopax. The ad said they have a thinner wall so I was a bit concerned that I might not like them. However, 2 Fuelpax cost the...

What tires do you like? (Merged Thread)

So is that supposed to be the new KM3 or is it just an update to the Baja T/A, which looks very similar? Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

What tires do you like? (Merged Thread)

Thank you. Good to hear. I'm in the Midwest so they will see very little or no desert use. I will run 35x12.5x15 on my 94 Grand Cherokee. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

    General Trip Planning

First, I usually figure out what main destinations I want to be sure and stop at (i.e. Waterfalls, rock formation, body of water). Second, I figure out any key roads/trails I want to go down (ideally between my key destinations). I then figure out where I might want to make camp for the nights...

    A good gps for overlanding

I use Gaia GPS as my primary on my iPad. The mapping/tracking feature works great. You can even download map areas for low signal areas. Gaia's online desktop web-based program is great for planning out routes easily before a trip. They auto sync to your mobile devices when signed into your...

When / why did off road tires get to be so beefy?

Because beards, chainsaws, big wrenches, beef stew, steel armor, hairy chests, beef jerky, more horsepower, chiseled jaw line, 12 gauge super magnum shotgun, ... Big Beefy Mud Terrain Tires. Need I say more?? Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

I'm considering Goodyear MTR with Kevlar. Does anyone have experience with them? How are they on-road (for a MT tire)? Thanks.
