One of the more fun/interesting sights along the way was "hell's backbone bridge" in Escalante Utah. Even during the height of the Summer we were all alone and the scenery was spectacular. Here are a couple pictures:
We didn't end up taking the Magruder - mostly because we ended up cutting the McCall leg of the trip. Did you do it? What kind of shape was it in? It's definitely on the list for next time!
Ah, I was wondering if there was a way to cut through there! Looks awesome, not sure about doing it without another rig along, but might have to do it.

I spent almost my entire life in Northern CA (Sacramento and Bay Area) before moving to TX then to Northern AZ. Zero regrets! CA does have the best weather, but there are more than enough negatives to offset that factor.

Great to find this community! I'm pretty new to overlanding, purchased my 1999 LX470 about 1.5 years ago and did some basic mods (new 33" AT tires, sliders, skid plate, CB, removed 2nd and 3rd row seats). I got my feet wet by attending 100s in the Hills last year.
