What do you do for a living?

Yeah, 2/7 was mixed up in that as well. I do remember that the Marines had the best air support while we were running convoy ops in Anbar. I remember one night leading a convoy of ammo trucks out to Al Asad and just chewing the rag with a pilot flying overhead for an hour or so. We got to the...

I was a team leader supporting the 2/7CAV in the longest convoy ever from Taji through Baghdad and then out to FOB Duke for the battle of Najaf. That was more than embracing the suck. That was getting downright intimate with the suck.

OIF2. I was there Jan 2004 thru March 2005 running convoys out of Taji at first for 1AD and for 1CD, also had half of my platoon attached to the 1st Marines in Fallujah and Ramadi for a month or two.

I would agree 100% that the HMMWV is an uncomfortable ride unless you are 5'3". I'm 6'4" and have got around 100K behind the wheel of an M998A1 and let me tell you about the suck. If the engine is hot and that fan comes on, you are going to lose power and not just a little. it's like throwing a...

Service manager and a partner in a heavy equipment dealership. We have a fleet of over 50 loaders and excavators and I'm the guy that gets the phone calls at 3AM asking what happens if someone accidentally filled the hydraulic tank with diesel fuel...

The 400XDR is pretty nice. Once in a while I had problems picking up one of the guys that were using a handheld from the other side of a ridge line but I never had a problem picking up PapaDave. I think I was the only one using APRS out there though.

Dave - Thanks for organizing this trip. I had a blast. I saw you again in Sonora as I was driving up 49 from Yosemite but didn't have time to tune the radio to give you a shout out.

@PapaDave I think I'm going to miss the start point but should be catching up with you guys before or at your fuel stop in Bridgeport. It will be quicker for me to catch 108 coming through Copperopolis than making the loop around to Oakdale. You can't miss me. Grey metallic Tacoma with RTT and...

@T3QCRUISER , if you think you might be late let me know. I'm rolling out of Stockton and might have to drop parts off and give one of my mechanics a hand in Twain Hart. I won't know for sure until my guy gets on site tomorrow morning and assesses the situation. If I need to drop parts, I'll...

Anyone know if we can burn up there? I have a mobile firepit that I would be willing to bring. Its not huge but its fire, and nice to watch with an adult beverage in hand.

Hardball is a military term for an improved road. If I wasn't taking my boat to Alameda Saturday I'd offer to go prerun that route with you. Looks like a fun weekend.

Are you planning on taking the Bodie Masonic Road into Bodie from the first campsite or were you planning on using the hardball to get to the ghost town?
