  1. I know the bulk of the conversation is going on in the other thread, but I just wanted to thank everyone for their enthusiasm. Really looking forward to the trip.

  2. I wanted to get your opinion on; (1) a stock 4Runner Trail going on this run, and (2) taking a kids and a girlfriend. I think they will bail if it is chilly but in case they still on going I wanted to get someone’s take on that. Also, I have a couple of two-radios but will get a CB or something else off Facebook Marketplace if the group has decided on comms. Thanks.

  3. I’m happy to respond.

I have 100% confidence is your truck. I wouldn’t have the slightest concern going forward.

I guess it depends somewhat on the age of the kids, but I don’t think it will be any problem. My kids were riding in my Rubicon on much tougher trail when they were just a couple years old.

    CB makes sense to me.

I specifically picked this trail and talked it up because I think it’s perfect for relatively newer drivers getting their confidence and experience up. I suspect you will have a great time.

  4. Hi all,

I’d be interested in joining the group if that’s amenable to everyone. It looks like this might be novice friendly and I’m certainly that. I don’t have much gear, but I’ll make sure I have proper recovery points and comms by trail day. If there’s anything else I must have, let me know. I’ll see what I can do or catch you guys on another trip.

  5. LD7, indeed this run is novice friendly–in fact that’s pretty much the whole point of it.

Recovery points and comms are what I would consider to be the minimum, and you can see the other thread for people discussing other good things to have. However, if that’s all you can afford right now, we’ll make it work.

  6. OK, just counting down days on the calendar now. It’s time to start doing the last minute stuff. (I’ll be posting this in both threads.)

I would like to divide the groups up, so please tell me your preference. If you have a pressing reason to be in the first wave or the second, let me know. If you are interested in being with a group of friends, let me know that as well (as well as the friends’ handles), so I can assign you together. Otherwise, I’m going to be attempting to even out the experience and gear between the two.

Thanks for your help in getting this info together.

  7. I have no preference on group. I posted gear in wave 1 comments. I do have a friend that would like to bring his jeep, but he is not signed up yet. I will update if he can make it work.

  8. Hey y’all. I’ve got a new Subaru Forester. I’m working on getting it kitted out, but I don’t even have offroad tires yet, I’m running on Blizzaks at the moment. I’ll have basic recovery gear and a CB radio. Would I be welcome / be able to make it up the trail?

    1. I don’t see that we’re filled up yet, so you sure as heck are welcome to sign up.

Not sure what to tell you about the Blizzaks. Let me first say that in my opinion the trail is very doable for your vehicle. I would probably wish that it had a little less of a snow tire and more of an off-road tire. Do you have tow points? I’m happy to put you between experienced people who can you pull you over any problem areas if necessary.

      1. Yeahhhhhh I’ll be getting Geolanders or Grabbers right after the meet, but not there quite yet 😛
I’ve got tow points on front and rear. Thanks a billion!

  9. There are a whole bunch of people who have signed up but neither posted nor DMed their experience and gear. I can’t make up the final list and distribute people between the two groups unless I hear from you. Thanks.

  10. Unfortunately, I’ll have to bow out of this one because of a sudden work commitment. I’ll see if I can link up with you all another time! Enjoy the trail everyone!

  11. It makes me extremely disappointed but I have to cancel. I will definitely be heading out there as soon as I can. Thank you for putting this together so well!

  12. Here’s my list for Wave 2, in order:

    JL Outside
    VJR Electric +5 friends
    Atlas/Apolo
    Flamewave

If you’re not listed here, you’re either in Wave One, or didn’t give me any of your information. Or I made a mistake!

Let me know of any necessary changes. Anybody in this group a ham?

  13. Hey, Wave two!

Wave one will be leaving the Apple at 1000. Please be there so you can follow us between 1030 and 1045. Look to the other thread for details but generally speaking we will be waiting for you in the parking lot on the north side of the trail. We will then organize who and in what configuration we’ll be going back down the trail.

    Looking forward to seeing you!
